William "Bill" Benjamin Ludwig, age 85, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at his family home. Bill was born August 14, 1936, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Benjamin and Louise (Higgins) Ludwig.
Bill moved to Washington as a young child, living in various places before settling in Sedro-Woolley at the age of 19. Bill met his love, Arlene at her family's locally owned ice cream shop; they married a couple of years later and were married for 64 years. Bill worked in mills, for a good part of his life, sold real estate and worked at the Sedro-Woolley School District, where he worked as the high school custodian and the Tennis Coach. His hobbies included racing pigeons and woodworking. He spent countless hours in his woodshop and many family members have a treasured piece of his work in their homes. Bill was very active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight. He also spent many years coaching Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball when his children were young. Bill's favorite memories are from get togethers, camping trips and card games with Arlene, friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Arlene; sister, Betty Demadura; children, Laurie Kukrecht, Gary and his wife, Kathy Ludwig, Mike and his wife, Kim Ludwig; grandchildren, Jessica (Kelly) Viers, Jennifer Carpenter, Bubba Carpenter, John (Kayla) Ludwig, Jason Ludwig, Kaitlin Ludwig; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Eric, Brooklyn, Chassidy, Camden, Caylee, Izeyah, Henry and Hadley; great great grandchildren; Owen, Aiden and Evan; many nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Ludwig.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 719 Ferry Street, Sedro-Woolley at 11:00, Monday, October 25, 2021, Father Jim Dalton celebrating, followed by a Committal Service at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or Hospice of the Northwest. Share your memories of Bill and sign the online guest register.
