William "Bill" Sparks 1950 – 2025

William "Bill" Sparks, 75, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Everett, Washington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bremerton, Washington, to William Sparks Sr. and Fernele Sparks.

Bill grew up primarily in Skagit County until his family later moved to Wickersham, Washington. It was there that he met the love of his life, Norma Hathaway. The two were married on October 8, 1968, at the Little Brown Chapel in Wickersham and soon after settled in Sedro-Woolley to begin their life together.

After completing high school, Bill began his working career with Weyerhaeuser Co., later moving to Thrifty Foods Co. He ultimately found his long-term professional home with Gais/Franz Bakery, where he proudly worked for 28½ years.

Devoted to his family, Bill also dedicated himself to serving his community. He volunteered at the Bishop's Storehouse, Bloodworks Northwest, the Burlington Library, the Senior Center, and in numerous classrooms. He found great joy in coaching, refereeing, and umpiring youth sports.

Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many capacities. He was also actively involved in the Lions Club, the Burlington Library Board, and Citizens on Patrol.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Sparks; his six children, Kimberly (Jerry) Moser, Raymond (Tanya) Sparks, Shannon (Rex) Sparks, Joey Sparks, Jared Sparks, and Kirk Sparks; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Wendy Chapman and Brenda Sparks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry Sparks and Steven Sparks.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley High School Auditorium, with refreshments to follow in the cafeteria. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you bring a dollar to donate to one of Bill's favorite charities. Share your memories of Bill  and sign the online guest register.
